Reasons About Why to Stop Racism

We wrote reasons for an argument.

First I wrote my opinions about racism. I then chose an argument which was why we need to stop racism. I wrote 5 reasons to back up my argument.

Next I found information for my  reasons. The first reason is Racism is hurting innocent people.  The second reason is  People are getting accused of something they didn’t do.

My last 3 reasons are: People are getting depressed and getting racial trauma because of the hate they are receiving, People are getting bullied because of their race, and Racism is affecting people’s life and what they are feeling.

The experience was amazing because I learnt new things about racism and how it affects people.

Pointless, Painful, Physical Education

I used Synthesis template and QAR template to help me read a persuasive text called Pointless, Painful, Physical Education. Persuasive is to change someone's belief.

First I made Synthesis egg template where I wrote my prior knowlegde, my new information, and my new understanding. Prior knowledge is somthing you already know, new information is something new that you learnt, and new understanding is something you know understand now.

Afterwards I answered questions and separated into boxes. The boxes are: On my own, Think and search, Author and me, and Right there.

  •  Right there means you can point it in the text.
  • Think and Search  means the answer is in the book but you have to look in different places to find the answer.
  • Author and me means the answer is no in the text but you use your backround knowledge.
  • On my own means the answer is not in the text but you could come up with your own answers.

Brainstorming

We brainstormed ideas so we can write a speech.

First we watched 2 videos about persuasive writing. Next we made a table to write our ideas about 3 topics which are Personal, Church, and World.

Later we sat down on the mat to share our ideas in 3 columns. The columns are personal, church, and world.

Lastly we we hihglighted the ideas with the colours green if you can persuade someone, red if think it going to be a problem, and yellow if it a good idea but can not persuade a lot of people.

The experience was amazing because I learned more about persuasive writing.

Skip Counting and Repeated Addition

Repeating addition and skip counting are strategies for multiplication and divison.

Repeating Addition is repeating a certain number to get an answer for a problem. For example Mike was at the beach for five days he collected 14 sea shells every day to keep how many shells does he have in total?
14 +14 +14 +14 +14 =70 the answer is 70 because 14 is added 5 times.

Skip counting is counting up or counting down using the same number.
For example Sam has seven, 5 doller notes how much money deos he have all together?.
5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35. The answer is 35 dollars because if you skip counted in fives 7 times the answer is 35.

This activity was helpful because I learnt new strategies.

First we posed a question which was What is the month with the most and least blog posts? We checked our blogs to see how many blog posts we had in each month.

May, June, and March are the most because we were at school for a whole month with no interruptions. July is also the lowest because we only had 2 weeks of school

The experience was amazing because I learnt new things about statistics
