Swimming Week 3

LS1 and I went to the pools to learn water safety.

First we did back floating. Back floating helps us breathe when we float. To back float keep your head facing up, stomach above the water, hands beside your side, and kick.

Next we did back strokes. To backstroke, float on your back and do arm circles backwards.

To finish up we did a dolphin dive. To do a dolphin dive, put your hands on top of each other and dive so you can touch the floor.

The experience was amazing because  I learned a lot of new skills to help me in case I get stuck in a ripe place.

Swimming (Week 2)

LS1 and I went to the pools to learn water safety.

First we did a type of rotation with a kick board. We floated on our back and turned so our face was above the water.

Lastly we did the dolphin dive. To do a dolphin dive, put your hands on top of each other and dive so you can touch the floor.

The experience was amazing because I learned a lot of new skills for water safety.

Water Safety

LS1 and I went to the pools to learn about water safety.

First our instructor taught us how to get in any pool safely. To get into the pool safely, I must put both of my hands on the wall, turn around and get inside of the pool.

Next our instructor taught us about back sculling. Sculling is for floating down in rivers. To scull I must lift my feet above the water and put my hands infront of me to keep me safe.

To finish up our instructor taught us front sculling. To scull forwards I must keep my head above the water and push with my hands.

The experience was amazing because I can use these skills in case I am in danger.  I think I need to practice my sculling because most of the time I kept on standing and using the wall.

Balancing with Table Tennis Equtiment

Today we used table tennis equpment to help us with balance.

First Mr Ogilvie tought us how to hold a table tennis bat. We hold it like we are doing a handshake and then we hold the back side like a gun.

Then we were trying to bounce the ball on our table tennis bat by using our forehand as many times as we could I bounced it 61 times then it fell.

Then we bounced the ball again but with our backhand I bounced it 23 times then the ball fell.

Lastly we were playing a game of table tennis the challenger was the one that does the serve. The serve name was drop serve we had to drop the ball and hit it after it bounced.

This was easy because I already know the skills to play table tennis.

Balancing with Frisbees

We learned how to balance while throwing and catching frisbees.

First in partners we threw frisbees to each other and tried our best to land without moving.

Then in partners one person called out go and we ran to catch the frisbee. We also tried our best to land in the a direction.

Lastly we played ultimate frisbee with the skills we learned. We got into 2 teams and threw the frisbee into the goal without stepping into the shooting circle

I think need to practice more on catching and landing because I kept on moving when I trying to catch and land.

Balancing

I learned how to balance using tennis equipment.

First we bounced the ball on the tennis racket and tried our best to balance the ball.

Then in pairs we hit the ball that our partner threw to us.

Lastly in groups Joe threw the ball and we hit the ball over the net.

I found this activity hard because I kept hitting on not swinging my arm while I was hitting the ball.

Balancing

We learned balancing by throwing, hitting and kicking different types of balls on one leg. There were five stations of PE equipment: soccer balls, tennis racket, tennis balls, hockey sticks, volley balls, egg and spoon.

I balanced a soccer ball on my forehead for more than 3 seconds and 3 knee jungles while balancing on one leg. I found this hard because the ball kept moving. This made me move around and not balance.

I hit a tennis ball 3 times with a tennis racket while balancing with on leg. I found this not hard because we moved less than the soccer ball.

I hit a hard ball with a hockey stick. I found this hard because you couldn't use the hockey stick to balance.

I held the spoon with an egg on top of it and tried to change levels. I found this hard because when I brought the egg and the spoon back up quickly I lost my balance.

I diged or setted the a volley ball to our parnter. I found this easy becuse it was just hitting the ball to our parnter and I wasn't moving a lot.

Balancing

We learnt balancing by throwing different types of balls on one leg. There were five stations of PE equipment: basketballs, netballs, hockey sticks, frisbees, and rugby balls.

First I had to try and catch the frisbee while balancing on one leg without falling. I found this hard  because the wind kept on blowing the frisbee away so you had to move to the side to catch it.

For the next activity we had to dribble the basket ball and our partner had to try and catch it on one leg. I think that this activity was easy to do but when we had to dribble the ball from side to side and it was hard to stay balanced.
For the next activity we had to throw a netball back and forth between eachother while standing on one leg. I thought that this activity was easy but then it got a little bit tricky when we had to try and catch is slightly from the side I started to wobble.
For the next activity we had to throw a rugby ball back and forth between eachother while balancing on one leg. I thought this activity was the hardest because when I was throwing from the side I lost alot of balance.
For the last activity we had to hit a small ball with a hockey stink without using the stick to help you ballance. I thought this activity was hard to because you couldnt 't use the hockey stick to help you ballance.

Balancing Around the School

We balanced in differents parts of the school and took photos.

The first photo is balancing on the bench area.

The next is balancing on a any object on the playground with my group helping me.

The third photo is balacning with the assistance of someone in my
 group.

The last photo is balancing on two of my group members.

It felt challenging because I stood on uneven surfaces.

Balance

I learnt about balancing and how to balance on objects.

First Mr Ogilvie told us what balance is, balance is about watching out for your tipping point. Then we had to push our partner while they were standing up, looking at the ceiling and looking at their feet. This help us anticipate when to balance.

Next that we had to get to the other side of the balance beam without touching the ground or falling over. We needed to focus on how we balance and who helped us.

Lastly we had to try to balance on a soccer ball with our partners helping us or by ourselves.

I think the balancing beam activity was hard becasue there were lots of risks of falling off.

Teamwork

Teamwork is a term to describe a group of people working together to achieve a goal.

Teamwork consists of three main mechanisms. Communication is talking to each other and sharing each others ideas. An example of this in dodgeball is if someone can get a ball the team can communicate by calling out who to aim for.

Cooperation is working together and not let anyone being left out. An example of this in dodgeball letting everyone join in the game.

Collaboration is working with another person or with a group to achieve or finish something. An examaple of this in dodgeball is a team working together to win the game.
(This video shows the mechanism of cooperation)  (This video shows the mechanism of collaboration)
(This video shows the mechanism of communication)

To be successful as a team all three mechanisms need to implemented throughout the activity.

HPE | What is Teamwork?

LS1 is learning what is teamwork by playing games.

First we played a game called Blind Fold Cone Challenge. We got into partners and one person from each partner gets a blindfold and the other person has to direct the partner to a cone, put the cone on top of the cone.

Then we played blindFolded Dodgeball with bean bags. We got into the same partner and the same person with the blindfold before has to put the blindfold on. While the partner was blind folded the other person from the partner had to direct the partner to get a bean bag or to throw the bean bag to a person.

Lastly we played hunger games dodgeball. Everyone was in a big square and they had to get a ball and throw it at another person but the outside people can throw at the inside people.

I enjoyed learning about communication, collaboration and cooperation because I can be a better team member when I play for a team.

AFL | Lesson 2

Group A learnt some skills for AFL (Australian Football League).

First we practiced the old skills from the 2 weeks ago. The skills from the 2 weeks ago are drop punt  (kicking) and hand ball (hand pass).

Then we learnt some new skills called ruck (tip off) and marking (catching). The ruck (tip off) is like a basketball tip off but you can move any where, you can hit it anywhere and you have to lift one of your knees while you try to hit the ball.If the ball goes over you head you move back and make an W above your head. If the ball goes under your chest you scoop the ball with your arms.

I enjoy learning new skills for AFL (Australian Football League) because I can play AFL (Australian Football League) with my friends and family. I need to work on my ruck (tip off) because I can't jump high.

AFL | Lesson 1

Group A did some skills for Australian Football League.

First we were shown by the Coach Jack how to pass the ball. To pass a ball make a fist with your right/left hand and make a plate with the opposite hand.

Next Coach Jack showed us how to kick the ball. To kick the ball with our hands make a M on the ball. After you make a M on the ball drop the ball where your foot is and before it drops kick the ball.

Lastly we played two games called Octopus and Bum the Coach. To play Octopus there are three taggers with the ball and they have to try to pass and hit the runners.  The runners are trying to run to the other side and not get hit by the ball.

I need to focus to kick the ball with less power and more power for my aim.
